You may read your personal e-mail on all library PC’s except from the one intended for library catalogue use only (special indication on it). Attention: use of PC’s for research/academic purposes is given priority over e-mail login.
It is not permitted to write your project on the library’s PC’s.
You’re allowed to use your notebook PC as long as you are aware that Wireless Internet connection services are unavailable.
You are not permitted to send a personal fax from the library.
You may access databases and electronic journals from home provided that you have access to the ASFA network or you use the “ΔΙΟΔΟΣ” service (access granted to you as a ASFA member) (ADSL Student Internet). Access to HEAL-LINK academic association subscription services for “ΔΙΟΔΟΣ” users is automatically granted through recognition of each user’s IP address, with the exception of TELLAS and FORTHNET subscribers whose IP addresses are privately owned, therefore access to HEAL-LINK services is not possible.
Printing on the black and white printer costs 10 cent per page. Printing a complete A4 page on the color printer costs 80 cents while half an A4 page will cost you 40 cents.
You must first store the data to be burned on the shared “drive for_CD on 'wse003” located on “My computer”. Next, you should refer to the loan and help desk for CD burning. Since the library does not provide empty recordable CD’s, you must bring your own in order to burn data on it. You are responsible for storing your own data on portable USB Flash devices.
The library provides black and white and color self-service photocopying machines. You can get hold of 2 € and 4 € magnetic cards from the automatic machine located next to the photocopying machines. The same card is used for both black and white or color photocopies. Using your 2€ card you may print up to 50 black and white or up to …color photocopies. Using your 4€ card you may print up to 100 black and white or up to …color photocopies. Users are kindly requested to respect copyrights legislation and to follow any associated restrictions imposed. The user must be aware, at all times, that photocopying of entire books and / or photocopying of over 20 pages per book is strictly forbidden. Scanning is done on the color photocopying machine. You are allowed to take pictures using your photographic camera. The library provides a photographic booth used for photos and copying slides, with the use of your camera. Users have to ask the attendant at the Enquiry Desk for permission before using the photographic booth. Taking pictures is allowed only for academic purposes. Users are kindly requested to respect associated copyrights legislation and to follow any restrictions imposed.
If you wish to watch a VHS movie, you need to go to the Library Audiovisual Collection area, choose the movie of interest and insert it in the VHS player. If you are interested in watching a DVD movie, you must ask the staff at the help desk to get it for you. You will be asked to leave your library card as a deposit, which will be returned to you upon returning the movie to the help desk. If you are interested in watching a cd-rom or dvd-rom movie, you must likewise ask the staff at the help desk to get it for you, and place the disk in the PC right next to the help desk. You will be asked to leave your library card as a deposit, which will be returned to you upon returning the material to the help desk. If you find difficulties installing the material, you may ask for the staff’s help. When your study has been completed, return the cd-rom to the help desk.
